Week 2

So I've been a little over one week. The plan is working out pretty well so far..35 minutes on the treadmill, walking at a 8.5-10.0 incline, at 3.5 mph, then running the last five minutes (my favorite part...not), and working out in that family circuit room. I get the feeling I will develop madonna arms, strong legs, but not abs of steel as I feel like a complete idiot doing the ab-crunch-machine-thing and haven't pushed myself to work at it. But I will get there.

I've built in 2 "off days" into this whacky exercise program. I really don't know what I am doing but it feels so good to be doing SOMETHING you know?

Lyte Funky Ones

Today was a good day. I went to the gym and worked hard. My body feels good.

So I'm watching these old videos from music groups from the 90's. Does anyone remember LFO? I remembered that Rich Cronin had passed away last year, so I listened to the 2 LFO songs I could remember...I had watched some of that VH1 show from a couple of years ago called Mission Man Band. It was a silly concept...but when you have bands like New Kids on the Block STILL touring and making money...and are in their 40's and singing about getting a girls number on the beach....why not exploit boy bands until the last drop?

The part about the cinnamon floss had me rolling.

Anyway, I am convinced that one of the other two guys in the group is mildly retarded. After I watched that video of Rich Cronin, I wondered what the other two guys were up to and googled them...found the names..and came across 2 you tube videos. One collegehumor video..and one they had made I guess right after Rich died.

The college humor video, embedding wasn't enabled. boo.

The other video, which I can only describe as strange, a combination of the outfits they chose to wear to make this video, the "memorabilia" in the background, and the aforementioned mildly retarded guy singing/talking/playing the guitar in the background.

Day One

I weigh 193lbs.

There. I said it. Today we went to the gym on base. James went his way, and I mine after we walked in..I'm not sure where he went but I found a treadmill, set the elevation to 8.5, the speed to 3.0...and off I went. 30 minutes later I was sweating, decided to run a little bit..and a very little bit it was. I felt like Chris Farley doing fat guy in a little coat. But I ran about 3 minutes, then decided, "who am i kidding" and wandered around for a bit. The base gym is pretty cool..there is a room set up for classes, basketball court, various racquetball/volleyball rooms, a child playroom, and a "family circuit" room. The fc room is right across from the kid room and is set up so that mom's can bring their kids and drop them off in the play area, and then work out in the fc room. There are tons of machines in the room...it is set up like Curves gyms. I like it, and since I am embarrassed about working out in front of GI Joe and friends I decided it was the room for me. I am not sure what I am doing, I just read the machines and go from there. It's times like these I wish I had played volleyball in high school...at least I would know how to "work out". Ah well.

I should probably throw out the chocolate in the kitchen. I'm not craving any now but I know it's there...and I am too weak to not give in when the craving hits.

On a positive note, drinking water isn't so bad. I like lemonade and tea so maybe every once in awhile I can sneak that in.

This is such a boring blog. I always make fun of wives who do nothing but post pictures of food they cook or babies they have. And here I am, talking about food I can't have.

My So Called Life is on netflix now. I finished the last episode of it today...Dawsons Creek ripped off that show so much. Tomorrow I start Roswell.

My life is SO BORING.

aesthetic living

We have one mirror in our home. When I look at it, I do not like what I see. About 4 years ago I wanted to change my life so I started running. I looked forward to waking up in the mornings, my complexion was nice, my clothes fit me, and I had an all around positive attitude. Due to a snowball of bad decisions that culminated in early spring of 2008, I stopped working out, began packing on the lbs, and decided to throw caution to the wind and do whatever the hell I wanted to do. This cost me valuable time, possibly a few friendships, and seriously maimed my relationship with God. I have since moved past that horrible period of my life sans one major issue....I have packed on the weight. In late 2008, I met a man who would change my life. Through a series of trial and error we figured out a way to make a long distance relationship work. Last year we got married and because of his job, I moved halfway across the country. I moved away from my wonderful family, friends, and a class of freshmen who I deeply care for. I was a single English teacher, now I am a married, unemployed housewife. I miss teaching, and I can't wait to get back to Texas again so I can find a new classroom to call my own. I do not regret marrying the love of my life, or moving to be with him. I love our life, but I know it could be better. It could be healthier...from the inside out. This blog chronicles the outside  journey as well as the inside changes it brings.

Goal One: I want to lose 30lbs by May 31, 2011.

Plan: Cardio at least 30 minutes 5 days a week, no sodas, more water than I care to drink in one day, no eating after dark.

simple enough, right? I'll do this, or die trying.
